Understanding the Status of a Domain Name Transfer imprimir

  • 44

Upon successfully executing a transfer for a domain name (except for .EU and .UK domain names), your domain name's transfer process will begin. You can easily track the status of your domain name's transfer by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Control Panel, search for the domain name you have requested for transfer, and proceed to the Order Details view.

  2. Take note of the Action Requested and the Status of the Action. The following statuses may be displayed for a domain name that has not yet been transferred to Domain India:

Trying to fetch Admin Contact Email Address

To ensure that an authorized person is placing the transfer request, we send an email to the Administrative Contact of the domain name for authorization. Our system automatically retrieves the Admin Contact Email Address by querying the current registrar's WHOIS server. However, sometimes the current registrar's WHOIS server may not respond to our request.

Domain India will attempt to contact the current registrar's WHOIS server for the Administrative Contact details every hour for up to 24 hours, and may even try to manually fetch the information. In almost all cases, we will be able to send an email to the Administrative Contact within 48 hours.

Action waiting for domain to be unlocked

This status indicates that the domain name you are trying to transfer has been locked by the current registrar. In this state, you must unlock the domain name with the current registrar before the transfer can proceed further. The system automatically checks every hour if the domain name has been unlocked and processes the transfer once the domain name is unlocked.

In this situation, you may either:

  • Click the Retry button if you have unlocked your domain name and want the transfer to proceed immediately, or
  • Click the Cancel button if you choose to fail this transfer.

IMPORTANT: The transfer order will automatically fail if the domain name is not unlocked within 7 days from the moment its corresponding invoice is settled.

Transfer waiting for Admin Contact Approval

Upon initiating a transfer, our system sends an email to the Admin Contact of the domain name as it appears in the current registrar's WHOIS server. You can verify the email address we retrieved from their WHOIS server at the time you initiated the transfer within the Order Details page.

If the Admin Contact does not receive the authorization email within an hour after initiating the transfer, you may resend it by clicking the Resend Authorization Request button.

IMPORTANT: There may be instances where the Admin Contact Email Address was changed after the transfer request was placed. In such cases, clicking Resend Authorization Request will not send the email to the new address. To send the email to the new address, the current transfer must be failed, and a new transfer order must be placed.

In some cases, the Admin Contact may not receive an email sent by our system due to issues such as network blockages, spam filters, etc. To circumvent this situation, click the Transfer Fax Form button and follow the instructions to send us your consent to transfer your domain name to Domain India.

We wait for 5 days for the Administrative Contact to approve the transfer. If the Administrative Contact remains silent (neither approves nor disapproves the transfer), we assume they do not wish to transfer their domain name and delete this order from our system.

Transfer waiting for Losing Registrar Approval

This status appears when the Administrative Contact has approved the transfer request sent by Domain India, and the transfer is now awaiting the current registrar's approval. Typically, your domain name should be transferred within 5 days from the time this status is displayed.
